The piston rod is a connection part that supports the piston to do work. Most of it is used in the oil cylinder and cylinder movement execution parts. It is a moving part with frequent movement and high technical requirements. Taking hydraulic cylinder as an example, it is composed of cylinder, piston rod (cylinder rod), piston and end cap. The quality of its processing directly affects the life and reliability of the entire product. Piston rod processing requirements are high, the surface roughness requirements are Ra0.4 ~ 0.8μm, the coaxiality, wear resistance requirements are strict. The basic feature of the cylinder rod is the slender shaft processing, which is difficult to process and has always troubled the processing personnel.
Piston components include: piston, piston ring, support ring, piston rod, etc. According to the different structural forms, pistons can be divided into cylindrical pistons (length than diameter), disc pistons (length than diameter), differential pistons, combined pistons and plunger pistons.
The function of the piston rod is to connect the piston and the crosshead, transfer the force acting on the piston and drive the piston movement.
Basic requirements for piston rod:
(1) To have sufficient strength, stiffness and stability;
(2) Good wear resistance and high processing accuracy and surface roughness requirements;
(3) Minimize the influence of stress concentration on the structure;
(4) Ensure reliable connection and prevent loosening;
(5) The design of the piston rod structure should be easy to disassemble the piston.
